When I decided to do up the dolls house I really thought it would be fun project that would take a couple of months. In reality it's actually proving to be a bit of a headache! Firstly there is a distinct lack of shops from which to by the supplies I want, like windows. I thought I had found a perfect shop not too far away in the latest yellow pages so took a trip with my dad, but when we got there (and paid for the car park) we found that actually the shop was closed. Secondly, the shops that are open don't supply objects that are the right size. It turns out that my house is 1:16 scale but new dolls houses are 1:12 scale and the parts are far too big for me to use. Even the internet hasn't been much help. But I'm not giving up yet, it just looks like I'll have to recycle some parts or just get creative!
I've previously posted some pics of a dolls house I'm doing up as a little project. So far I've just been removing the worst of the warped wood, stripped the roof and started sanding some of the uneven paint. This isn't a great picture but shows what's been done before I start adding new bits and making it pretty!
